New to Point Lookout is J.A. Heneghans Tavern, which takes over the space that used to house the Lazy Pelican.
Executive chef Nicole Roarke formerly cooked at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in San Diego, Spice Market in Manhattan and Sugo in Long Beach. Roarke described the ambience as rustic yet refined, with a lot of old brick and wood, as well as a double-sided fireplace. The decor includes memorabilia dedicated to the restaurant's namesake, the late John Anthony Heneghan, patriarch of the Heneghan family, owners of the restaurant.
On Roarkes dinner menu: Creamy tomato-rosemary soup, a classic Caesar salad ($10), Dijon-crusted pork chop ($23), Jameson-braised short ribs ($23) and tiger shrimp with linguine ($21). Theres also a burger with shoestring fries ($11), available with any number of toppings, at additional cost, from fried egg to caramelized onions.
