In Stony Brook, J&R’s Steak House has closed following severe damage from superstorm Sandy. There are no plans for reopening it, manager Andy Stamos Jr. said.
The 20-year-old Stony Brook spot was the original link in what has become a growing Long Island chain of moderately priced steak houses. “We had a lot of good memories and met a lot of good people there,” Stamos said, adding that he’s already run into a few Stony Brook customers at the steak house's other branches.
J&R’s Steak House currently has restaurants at 116 Main St. Islip, 631-277-5677; 181 Rte. 25A, Rocky Point 631-744-2101; 2330 Rte. 112, Medford 631-475-3839; 4362 Rte. 25, Calverton, 631- 727-7218 and 32 W. Main St., Patchogue, 631-475-9200.
