More than a year in the making, Jam in Massapequa Park is finally ready. The days-old breakfast and lunch spot is owned by Peter Mangouranes and brothers Paul and Anthony Oliva, who also co-own The Good Life, a block away, and The Phoenix in Seaford. Mangouranes is a partner, as well, at The Republic in Farmingdale.
Almost everything served is made from scratch, said Mangouranes, describing bacon that’s house-cured using Berkshire pork belly as well as a sausage mixture put together in house before being ground and stuffed into casings by the butcher next door. Breads come from the bakery across the street and eggs are brought in from a Hudson Valley farm. Commercial products include English muffins. And, surprisingly, whipped cream — a situation Mangouranes said he hopes to soon remedy.
On the breakfast menu: Yeast-risen Belgian waffles made with pearl sugar and served with fresh berries ($10); a bacon, Cheddar and roasted mushroom omelet ($11); cinnamon bun French toast ($9); huevos rancheros ($11) and a breakfast pulled pork sandwich ($11). Lunch items include a lobster roll ($18), avocado BLT ($9), lemon tarragon chicken salad sandwich ($10) and a chef's salad topped with a poached egg ($11).
All the jams served at Jam are house-made.
