The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

Kellis Grille & Wing House takes over the freestanding brick building that used to house Fosters Grille. It seems to have been born for watching big games.

As owner Joe Crennan tells it, there are 25 flat screen TVs playing virtually every sporting event televised, including pay-per-views. Individual TV screens in booths can be tuned to kids shows on request.

The Kelli for which the place is named is Crennan's daughter, Kelli Crennan-Marcus, who is also manager. A crew of servers attired in kilts, knee-socks and tank tops carry the name Kellis Kuties. You may wince or else think it adorable.

The roster of wings ($9.95 for 10, $16.95 for 20 and $39.95 for 50) comes in a variety of flavors, among them Buffalo, garlic honey, lemon pepper and barbecue-style. Also on the menu are clams on the half shell ($8.95 for 6, $15.95 for 12), shepherds pie ($12.95), a steamed fresh 1 pound lobster ($16.95) and a pulled pork sandwich ($8.95).

Among burgers: the Kellis deluxe burger ($8.95) as well as something called Bingos burger ($14.95) which involves bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion inside a double Texas toast grilled cheese sandwich thats topped with two fried eggs. In chaste contrast are the turkey burger ($8.95) and vegetarian portobello burger ($8.95).

Interestingly, Crennan, who is in the meat business, states, on the menu, that these are the best burgers in the world. Expect that claim to be tested.
