New Dori, the Korean restaurant that replaced the short-lived Dori on Jericho Turnpike, has closed. New Dori took over the free-standing building in 2015 but didn’t change the old “Dori” sign. Dori, which lasted less than a year, was preceded in this location by the Korean restaurants Ko Gu Ryo, Sil La Joung and Dory, which opened in 2000. (Before Dory, Hayasaka, a Japanese restaurant, held court since 1981.)
Starting in 2000, most of the changes at 1087 Jericho Tpke. have been cosmetic, but now piles of wood outside the restaurant indicate that a major renovation — or salvage operation — is underway. Stay tuned.
