A Korean family’s vision to bring homestyle classics such as bulgogi- and kimchee-laden stews to the people of North Bellmore has come to an end after a short-lived stay.

The owners of Korean Spoon, a mostly takeout and delivery spot, announced that they will close after service on Sunday, June 11, roughly six months after it set up shop in the space that once housed In N Out Cafe Market.

Christy Lee along with her brother and husband bypassed their home in Queens where competition for Korean restaurants is more brisk, choosing instead to come farther east, believing there was an audience for the food of their homeland, she said.

While they had brisk weekend business, the weekdays proved to be quiet, forcing the family to shutter, Lee said.

“I am so sad,” she said. “I thought I would retire here. I love to cook. But things didn’t turn out. Life is sad. Maybe I’ll come back.”
