Tonight, La Notte Ristorante makes its debut in the bi-level space that last housed Bel Posto and, before that, Mangiamo, Tello and Orlandos.
The new dining spot is owned by Joseph Competiello, who grew up working at his fathers Forest Hills Italian restaurant. Chef Joseph A. Cacace cooked at such Manhattan restaurants as Mesa Grill, Gramercy Tavern, Mercer Kitchen and The Boathouse. On Long Island, he had a stint as executive chef at Uncle Bacalas in Garden City Park.
On Cacaces menu: sformata, a savory Italian flan ($10); fregola soup with manila clams ($10); strozzapreti, a cavatelli-like pasta, with lamb ragu and fava beans ($18); pan-seared branzino ($28); chicken cacciatore ($20); and pan-roasted Berkshire pork chop ($27).
Competiello said that the upstairs level is currently under renovation and will be used as a party space.
