Culinary impresario Lidia Bastianich will be putting on her grandma hat Sunday, as she signs copies of her new children’s Easter-themed book, “Lidia’s Egg-Citing Farm Adventure,” illustrated by Renée Graef (Running Press, $16.95).
Bastianich’s goal is to remind kids that eggs come not from a carton, but from a chicken, and in her book she reminisces about her childhood in Istria, Italy, where the family raised its own chickens. “I played with them, fed them, cleaned their coops, and collected their eggs. I was thankful when a chicken gave a fresh egg for my breakfast, or more importantly, its life to be turned into a good sauce for our Sunday pasta.”
