Back in April it looked like Lindsay Lohan would be heading home to Long Island for rehab, but the troubled starlet wound up at California's Cliffside Malibu instead. But now a California judge has approved a plan that will allow her to spend the final 30 of her court-ordered 90 days at Seafield in Westhampton Beach.
And we can’t help thinking: pizza.
Seafield is only a third of a mile from Pizzetteria Brunetti, a sliver of a pizzeria that serves some of Long Island’s best wood-fired pies. The absolute pinnacle is the vongole bianca (white clam) topped with nothing more than fresh-shucked local clams, garlic butter and herbs. (It was ranked #No. 2 on our recent list of Long Island's best pizzas.)
Of course, a pizza — even a small $19 pizza — isn’t a treatment for addiction, but might it not bestow a sense of satiety and well-being?
According to its website, Seafield is not a locked facility, but residents are “restricted to remain on the grounds.” That rules out a stroll over to Brunetti. And “no food items will be allowed” with visitors on Sundays. It seems to me, though, that the facility could order in, no? In that case, I’d advise the clam pie and also the regular Margherita, $14, with fresh, local mozzarella. The one with imported buffalo mozzarella costs $2 more and isn’t as good.
