The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Lobster with chickens. Thats the surprisingly appetizing twosome now on offer at Kerbers Farm in Huntington. The lobster is mixed with chopped celery and a minimum of mayonnaise, piled into a toasted hot-dog bun and served with potato chips. While you eat, the chickens cluck contentedly in their coop along one side of Kerbers lovely gravel-paved backyard.
Lobster rolls are $17.50, griddled hot dogs are $4.50 and roasted ears of corn are $4. And when youre finished with the savory portion of the meal, head into Kerbers bakery for one (or more) of Danna Abrams superlative pies, cookies or pastries.
Lobster salad is made fresh daily and has been known to run out. Calling ahead is advisable.
Kerber's Farm is open until 8 p.m. on weekdays, until 9 p.m. on weekends at 309 W. Pulaski Rd., Huntington 631-423-4400.
