The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

In this week’s Newsday, Joan Reminick reviews Bangkok Pavilion, a new Thai restaurant that moves into the Kings Park corner that seems incapable of housing any other cuisine. (Previous tenants include Sarin Thai, Chaophaya and Siam Thai.) “This is one of the prettiest occupants,” she writes. “Service is on point . . . and so, for the most part, is chef Settapat Bunnak's repertoire.”

Peter Gianotti visits Trento in Farmingdale, which “rises on the space opposite Republic Airport, where the Crazy Donkey club kicked around for years. It’s a dramatic transformation,” carefully designed, sleek and contemporary. As for the food, it “traces its origins not to the Dolomites but to the Gino’s pizzeria group.” The less ambitious fare tends to be the most successful.
