The eagerly awaited Main Road Biscuit Co. opens softly in Jamesport on Thursday, showcasing Marissa Drago’s tender and buttery biscuits slathered with house-made honey butter or orange lemon marmalade.

Drago, the former director of catering for Financier Patisserie, and her attorney husband Bryan, were inspired by the thriving foodie culture of their old Williamsburg neighborhood, as well as legendary breakfast spots like the Fremont Diner in Sonoma, to create a new hangout on the North Fork.

The Dragos, who now live in Mattituck, purchased and renovated the former Jamesport Country Kitchen, using plenty of wainscoting, vintage lighting, and reclaimed wood. Brooklynites will recognize the rustic-industrial décor and the focus on artisanal food. The pickles are made with local cucumbers. The coffee comes from North Fork Coffee Roasting, down the road in Southold.

The eatery will be in a preview phase for a couple of weeks, with Chef Vincent Purcell serving a limited menu of biscuits and biscuit-reliant dishes including fried chicken biscuit, biscuit benedict, and Caesar salad with biscuit croutons.

There will also be pancakes and Drago’s mac and cheese.

After the Grand Opening on Nov. 10, expect an expanded selection of baked goods, smoothies, and daily specials.
