In addition to benefiting cancer research, sampling the wares of dozens of top LI restaurants and possibly getting a glimpse of Alec Baldwin, the seventh annual Long Island Hospitality Ball will offer guests a rare sighting of Joan Reminick, the restaurant critic who retired last year — and who assiduously maintained her anonymity during her 25 years at Newsday. Reminick is this year’s recipient of the Ed Lowe media award (named for the Newsday columnist who died in 2011).

The ball, which benefits the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, will be held on Monday, June 26, at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. Carol M. Baldwin, materfamilias of the acting Baldwin brothers, is a cancer survivor whose charity has donated more than $4 million to medical research. Her sons Billy and Daniel Baldwin are scheduled to appear at the ball; Alec and Stephen are not confirmed.

Sprawling all over the club and, weather permitting, the resort-style pool area, will be tasting tables staffed by more than 100 local restaurants, bakeries, caterers and beverage merchants including Besito Mexican (Roslyn and Huntington), Chris & Tony’s (Syosset), George Martin restaurants (Merrick, Rockville Centre and Syosset, Great River, Massapequa Park), Havana Central (Roosevelt Field Mall), K. Pacho (New Hyde Park), Limani (Roslyn), Pop’s Seafood Shack (Island Park), Revel (Garden City), Teller’s (Islip), Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace, Verde Kitchen & Cocktails (Bay Shore), Kannoli Kings (Massapequa), Loafers Bakery (Locust Valley), Torta Fina (Commack and Babylon) and Titan-Optima Foods (Deer Park).

The evening’s other honorees are Giovanni Casano of Empire Wines and Spirits, Matthew Yonick of Manhattan Beer Distributors, nightclub impresario Bobby Goodrich and Rob Verderosa, the Long Island restaurateur who is getting a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The festivities begin at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $135 per person and include unlimited food and drink. Purchase them online here or at The Refuge in Melville, Argyle and Barrique in Babylon, Tony Cuban in Freeport, TOA Asian Fusion in Huntington, or at Cabo or George Martin The Original in Rockville Centre.

If the event does not sell out, tickets will be $175 at the door. For more information go to longislandhospitalityball.org
