The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Just launched at Cilantro in Northport: a build-your-own breakfast burrito, available daily from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. It works Chipotle-style: order at the counter, pointing out the ingredients you want in the burrito. The basic scrambled-egg version starts at $5. Add onions, relish and salsa fresca, as well as spinach and/or Mexican breakfast potatoes. Chorizo or bacon costs an extra $1, while guacamole costs $1.50 for a small serving, $3 for a large one.
All this week, until Sunday, July 5, owner Artie Berke is giving away a free meatless burrito to anyone who brings in canned food, which will be donated to the Northport Pantry.
The Huntington location of Cilantro does not yet offer breakfast. It does, however, remain open until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
Cilantro is at 40 Woodbine Ave., Northport, 631-651-9377 and 376 New York Ave., Huntington, 631-923-3800.
