The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Joining the Manhasset eating scene is Mole Mole Mexican Grill, the spinoff of a casual counter-serve Port Washington spot. The eatery is under the same ownership as Mojito Cafe & Lounge and Mi Ranchito Grill, both in Port Washington.
Here, much as at national chain Chipotle Mexican Grill, you pick out the ingredients you want for your taco, burrito, salad, "fiesta" bowl or quesadilla. Proteins include pulled pork, ground beef, steak, spicy chicken and chorizo. You can also opt for a platter, such as chimichangas or carne asada.
So, where does the mole sauce usually accented with unsweetened chocolate come in? Among options, to put on top of whatever you're eating, there's mole verde (made with chilies and pumpkin seeds) as well as mole poblano (made with chilies and unsweetened chocolate).
Prices run from $5.20 for tacos (two to an order) to $12.95 for a grilled tilapia platter.
Mole Mole is at 440 Plandome Rd., Manhasset, 516-472-0990.
