The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

Andrew Crabtree, executive chef at Piccolo in Huntingon, now heads the kitchen at Mill Pond House in Centerport, too.

Crabtree succeeded David Intonato at Mill Pond House. Intonato, who'd earned a 2½-star rating for his food at Mill Pond and, earlier, three stars  at the Jamesport Manor Inn, now owns the Purple Elephant Whole Foods Deli & Market in Northport.

Mill Pond House specializes in steak, seafood, sushi, a raw bar, and American fare. Recent specials under Crabtree have included sauteed monkfish with celery root-potato puree; blackened pork loin with garlic-whipped potatoes and caramelized apples; and Dijon mustard-breadcrumb crusted Australian rack of lamb for two. Piccolo is an Italian restaurant, with New American dishes, too. The restaurants have the same owner.
