Lola, Great Neckas acclaimed New American restaurant, will close after dinner on Sunday, May 10, to reopen later in the month with a new menu.

When it opened in 2009, Peter M. Gianotti gave Lola 3A stars, praising the abrilliant, volatile, high-riska menu; the restaurant was named as one of Newsdayas Top 10 New American restaurants in its Top 100 series of 2013 and 2014.

Executive chef-owner Michael Ginor characterized the coming changes as afairly dramatica and said the new menu would be pan-Mediterranean, focusing less on Europe and more on the cuisines of Israel and Northern Africa. With a mix of small and large plates, the new Lola will be amore accessible and less expensive.a Lenny Messina, who started as a sous chef at Lola, will be the chef de cuisine.

Ginor said he expects to reopen Lola on May 19. Weall keep you posted.
