It was another one of those scorching days that’s so far defined this summer. The call of the Walt Whitman Mall led to a quick dinner at California Pizza Kitchen.
Pizza didn’t tempt me. What did was their new miso shrimp salad: a shrimp-topped combo of shredded Napa cabbage, avocado, julienne cucumbers, daikon, edamame, carrots, red cabbage, green onions, cilantro, crisp rice noodles and bits of fried wonton skin in a Miso dressing.
It had just what I craved: coolness and a bit of crunch. Who needed pizza?
