The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Add Goodfood in Mattituck to this season's list of North Fork openings.
On the menu are muffins, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, scones and croissants. Salads are made with produce from local farms. You'll also find falafel, steak, vegetable and chicken sandwiches ($8.75 to $13.50). And empanadas ($3.50 to $3.95 each, or $38 to $42 a dozen), in such varieties as bison, beef, BBQ pulled pork with mango and black bean with corn. There's even a breakfast empanada filled with Yukon Gold potatoes, onion, bacon, eggs and chives.
The 16-seat eatery and takeout spot represents the collaboration between Luchi Masliah (whose Gula Gula Empanadas are sold at local farmers markets) and Allison Katz, a professional small-batch baker who sold her Ali Katz baked goods at farmers markets, as well.
Goodfood is at 535A Pike St., Mattituck, 631-298-7599.
