The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Big eaters on a budget have a new Asian smorgasbord-style restaurant in Baldwin to check out. Flaming Grill & Supreme Buffet offers seating for more than 400, and presents an array of more than 300 items. Eat all you want, but know that you can't take any doggy bags home with you.
Here, you'll find anything from spicy tuna rolls to General Tso’s chicken to pan-fried pork dumplings to chicken teriyaki. Even pizza, chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. (At night, the selection expands to include such items as spareribs with BBQ sauce, fried crabs and salt-and-pepper shrimp.) Then, there's the hibachi station, where you pick out ingredients — among them, chicken, beef and vegetables — hand them to the chef and watch as he cooks them. With pyrotechnics, most of the time.
Right now, prices are $7.29 for lunch Monday to Friday, $8.29 for lunch Saturday and $10.99 for dinner, which runs all day on Sunday. For kids, the cost runs $3.59 to $7.99, depending upon the child's age and the time of day. Note that dinner prices may go up a dollar within the next month or so.
