For all those who have been waiting to see when Winnie’s Coffee Shop in Bay Shore would reopen comes this news: It’s open. It’s still called Winnie’s. But former owner Tony Bellucci is no longer affiliated with the place, which has been overhauled and remodeled.
It’s now owned by Pamala Wood, who said she attended the Culinary Academy of Long Island in Syosset and was sous chef at Flynn’s Fire Island in Ocean Bay Park. Wood said she is calling the place Winnie’s because “it’s a Bay Shore icon and if you change the name, you’ve just jinxed yourself.”
Right now, the menu is devoted to comfort dishes, like The Idaho, home fries smothered with bacon, scallions and Cheddar and topped with two eggs ($9.95), a Western omelet ($8.50), a Belgian waffle ($5.50), a Greek salad ($6.99), a BLT ($5.50) and a Texas burger with chili, Cheddar and jalapeños ($8.25).
The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, with breakfast offered throughout the day.
