Say hola to Corazon de Cuba, which takes up residence in the bilevel Long Beach space that last hosted Cuban Crocodile.
Co-owner Armando Lopez said that the restaurant's chef, Noe Dominguez, hails from Cuba and cooked at a few Cuban restaurants in Manhattan. “Everything is made fresh, in house,” he said.
On the menu: beef, chicken, shrimp or broccoli and cheese empanadas ($2.95 each), bacalaitos, or cod cakes ($9.95), ropa vieja, or shredded skirt steak with peppers onions and tomatoes ($16.95), lechon asada, or slow-roasted pork ($14.95), seafood paella ($26.95) and a Cuban sandwich ($9.95).
The place features live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and while there’s no dance floor, said Lopez, people often dance near the bar.
