The flagship restaurant for the new Pudgie’s Naked Chicken Co. just launched in Massapequa. The franchise eatery is owned by Trufoods LLC, whose president, Gary Occhiogrosso, said he is reinventing the Pudgie’s Famous brand, which still has five takeout spots on Long Island.
While the new Pudgie’s Naked Chicken Co. features skinless fried chicken, its menu has been modernized to spotlight what Ochiogrosso called “grilled and healthier options.” Nothing, he said, is frozen, and all items — including fries and roasted vegetables — are freshly prepared, as much to order as possible. In an effort to keep things local, some produce, right now, is being purchased from the Seaford farmers market.
On the menu: skinless fried chicken ($8.99 half chicken platter; $18.99 for an 8-piece family meal), a Churger, or grilled chicken burger ($5.99), wings with BBQ blueberry sauce ($4.99 for 4 pieces to $23.99 for 25 pieces), a grilled Napa chicken sandwich with avocado, peppers, Swiss cheese and chipotle sauce ($6.99), a Mexican rice bowl with grilled chicken, black beans, salsa and guacamole ($7.49), a Cobb salad ($7.99), and such sides as fries, zucchini chips, brown rice and mac and cheese ($1.99 to $4.99).
