The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Clanging knives and flying vegetables are only part of the scene at the new Ikura Sushi Hibachi Lounge, which occupies the former Jani digs in Rockville Centre. In addition to a space with four hibachi tables, a separate room offers quieter dining on sushi and Asian kitchen specialties.
Hibachi dinners come with clear soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, mixed vegetables and fried rice or noodles. Choose among such options as chicken ($16), filet mignon ($21) and Chilean sea bass ($22).
From the regular menu: chicken lettuce wraps ($14), yellowtail seviche ($13), a ninja roll with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna and eel ($16), chirashi ($25), tofu teriyaki ($13), General Tso’s chicken ($16) and duck fajitas Asian style ($18).
Ikura Sushi Hibachi Lounge is at 292 Sunrise Hwy., Rockville Centre, 516-766-2554, ikurahibachi.com.
