The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

La Maison, a New American/French-style eatery, has opened at the Main Street address that  recently housed JLX Bistro.

Peter Chris, one of the partners, said La Maison is co-produced by the owners of Trata Estiatorio, in Water Mill and Roslyn. The Tratas are two of Long Island's top Greek-seafood spots.

JLX, the highest-profile joint to occupy the transformed gas station in downtown Sag Harbor, was part of Ed Kleefield's collapsed East End empire, which included Prime 103 in East Hampton and Madame Tong's in Southampton.

La Maison dramatically overhauls the site, giving it a Gallic accent in the decor as well as the menu. The summery spot is open every day lunch and dinner. Chris added that the restaurant also will be open for breakfast. and offer a late-night menu, too.  La Maison expects to get its liquor license shortly.

The dinner menu currently includes appetizers such as tuna tartare, red-curry mussels, a mini-lobster roll, and grilled calamari; and main dishes including roasted cod, grilled tuna, grilled lamb T-bone, chicken Milanese; linguine with asparagus and fava beans; and a local spin on bouillabaisse.  Dessert: creme brulee, crepes, sorbets.

La Maison, 16 Main St., Sag Harbor; 631-899-4609.

Alfresco at La Maison.
