The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Seafood is the star in a savory pie at Saggio Pizza, Pasta & Cafe in East Norwich. The "frutti di mare" pizza is the catch of the week.
The cheese-less production is topped with shrimp, mussels and clams, in a tasty, light marinara sauce. Very good crust, lots of flavor and just marine enough, it's one of Saggio's personal pizzas. Cost: $13.95.
Saggio also prepares a fine, namesake pizza capped with prosciutto di Parma, fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers, atop a snappy San Marzano tomato sauce, This one is $11.95. If your companion decides against pizza, recommend the San Gennaro focaccia, which here is a sandwich with mini-muffuletta bread instead of a flatbread, filled with broccoli rabe and Italian sausage. $9.95.
Gelati are the apropos finales.
