If there’s one place that can’t be missed in Southampton, it’s the venerable lunch-only Silver’s on Main Street. There’s a natural tendency to balk at its $24 BLT, but oh what a sandwich it is, with ruby-red tomatoes and grilled crusty bread with piles of smoky bacon and generous dabs of mayo. The lobster roll on a baguette just might be worth its weight in gold (at $49), and the Russian cabbage borscht is as good when it’s 80 degrees in the Hamptons as when it’s below 8 in Moscow. ($15 a bowl). Lots of celebrities cycle in and out, and people-watching is an A-level sport here.

If you’re feeling peckish as you make your way through Nassau County on the LIE, get off at Exit 37 and head for Ravagh Persian Grill, a block north on Mineola Avenue. Start off with a fork-tender, softball-size pepper stuffed to overflowing with lamb and rice and served with fresh tomato sauce, a meal for $7. Among the many wonderful kebabs here — tender chicken shish kebab, ultra-savory kebab barg (marinated beef tenderloin), kebab kobideh (ground beef and lamb) — the jujeh kebab is a standout. It’s a skewer of bone-in guinea hen chunks marinated in saffron and lemon, then grilled and served with chargrilled onion and tomato.

Plan on breakfast (served all day) at North Fork Roasting Co. in Southold, for a duck-egg burrito with pico de gallo, pickled onions, black beans and cheddar, or the waffle egg sammy with Gruyere and thick bacon. Pair it with an iced coffee — served with ice cubes of frozen joe — for some of the finer small-batch, locally roasted coffee on the East End. Then grab a seat in the outdoor garden for a relaxing start to the day. Breakfasts run $6 to $10.50.
