As it does battle with the cupcake for supremacy, the doughnut has gotten a powerful new weapon from Cooks Scratch Kitchen in Northport: the smores croissant doughnut.
According to partner Josh Cook, the pastry starts with the shops homemade croissant dough, which is cut into rings and then deep fried. Next its glazed with chocolate, sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs and topped with homemade marshmallows and lightly torched to brulee the topping. The doughnut costs $4.
The smores doughnut is Tuesdays daily doughnut special. Cooks Scratch Kitchen has one most every day and recent entries have included strawberry, peanut butter and maple-bacon.
