Xaga, Taka and now Sogo. Merrick adds another sushi-Asian-fusion restaurant to the lineup.

Sogo takes over the Merrick Avenue storefront that was most recently Attic Asian Bistro and, before that, Yuki’s Palette Too.

The large menu hits all the standard notes: Sweet, quasi-Asian starters such as lobster mango salad ($12) and coconut shrimp ($7), Chinese favorites such as crystal shrimp dumplings ($6) and shrimp lo mein ($11), Japanese entrees such as shrimp and vegetable tempura ($17) and salmon teriyaki ($16) and lots and lots of sushi, in simple and elaborate dress.

Sushi dinner (with soup or salad) is $20. Among the signature rolls are Merrick (spicy, crunchy tuna topped with avocado, $11), Spicy Sex Girl (spicy, crunchy yellowtail with spicy, crunchy salmon and tobiko, $12) and Godzilla (tuna, salmon, white fish, crab stick, eel, avocado, all deep fried with spicy mayo and eel sauce, $12).
