The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Sonoma Grill East has opened on Main Street in Riverhead. It takes over the restored midcentury Chase Bank building that started its post-financial life as the restaurant known as The Riverhead Project, which closed a year ago.
The restaurant is an offshoot of Holtsville's Sonoma Grill and has a similar crowd-pleasing menu of drink-friendly starters, burgers, pizzas, salads, pastas and signature wraps, made with house-made, grilled-to-order dough. Wraps, burgers and pizza are all priced below $15; most mains are less than $20.
The partners in the new restaurant -- John Cestare, Matt Demar and Ed Marinelli -- licensed the name from the owners of the Holtsville location. This is the first of what the three partners hope will be a number of area franchises.
Sonoma Grill East is at 300 E. Main St., Riverhead, 631-591-3877, sonomagrilleast.com.
