The calamari are frying, the pasta is boiling, and the red sauce flowing in Long Beach.
Spiaggia, or, in full, Spiaggia Cucina Italiana, is open and accepting reservations. It's open seven days, starting at noon, in the space that formerly housed George Martin's Coastal Grill.
Expect antipasti such as those crisp squid fra diavolo, rice balls and mozzarella in carrozza; pastas including linguine with clams, "passport to Italy" with fettuccine Alfredo, in pesto and filetto di pomodoro sauces, and manicotti "Corleone," which means the addition of chicken, sun-dried tomatoes and spinach.
Main dishes range from chicken Parmigiana and branzino Livornese to skirt steak with scampi-style shrimp and lobster tails; and salmon Michelangelo, or panko-crusted and served with dill sauce. The kitchen also prepares panini and pizzette.
Appetizers are $12 to $15; pastas, $13 to $24; main courses, $17 to $32. Panini and pizzette are $12 to $16.
