The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
In case you're planning to head out to Stango’s at the Orchard in Glen Cove tonight, better recalibrate. The 95-year-old landmark Italian restaurant, relaunched last year by a team of investors headed by political couple Helene and Tom Suozzi, is temporarily closed. A recorded message you get after dialing the eatery's number blames the cold weather, adding that the place will reopen sometime during the week of March 3.
Co-owner Helene Suozzi, reached by phone, verified that information, adding that when the place reopens, it will have a new chef, manager and menu, which is still in the process of being finalized. The revamped menu, she said, will be bigger than the previous one and will feature old favorites along with new items.
Stango’s at the Orchard is at 19 Grove St., Glen Cove, 516-671-2389.
