The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

Jewel of India has made its final passage. The Indian restaurant, which opened at 347 Jericho Tpke. in 1996, has closed. You'll still see "Jewel of" illuminated at night. But the building is for sale.

At first, this Jewel was associated with Jewel of India of Manhattan, which is open. But they split years ago.

The Syosset restaurant earned a two-star rating early on and stayed consistent, with fine curries and breads, lamb and vegetarian dishes. Veteran diners will remember that another Indian eatery, Maharaja, also resided here, as did Sarge's Delicatessen.
