The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

Come early May, The Greene Turtle should be coming out of its shell in the former Franklin Square digs of Boulder Creek Steakhouse. The Maryland-based franchise specializes in regional “comfort food” and features flat screen TVs everywhere — even in booths.

Because of the Maryland influence, crab figures prominently on the menu. There’s a Maryland crabcake ($14.49), a Chesapeake burger made with Old Bay seasoning and topped with crab dip ($11.99) and “Eastern Shore” mac & cheese ($10.49) laced with lump crabmeat. Also featured: a mushroom Swiss burger ($9.99), crab flatbread pizza ($12.49), fish tacos ($10.99) and baby back ribs ($17.99).

There are already 36 Greene Turtle restaurants nationwide. On Long Island, brothers John and Jeff Froccaro —  who also have a string of Burger King eateries —  say they plan to develop at least 10 restaurants in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The Greene Turtle will be at 700 Hempstead Tpke., Franklin Square, thegreeneturtle.com.
