At Bennett’s Sushi & Lounge in Locust Valley, there’s a sushi roll named for Nelson DeMille, whose novel “The Gate House’’ takes place in the community. Other rolls are called “Lock Jaw’’ and “The Trust Fund,’’ and Peter M. Gianotti gives the place a very respectable two stars.

There’s no shortage of shtick at the pirate-themed Port Royal Pub & Grille in Islip, where Joan Reminick especially goes out on the plank for the international mac 'n’ cheese menu. “It’s bliss in a bowl,’’ she writes.
