In this weeks Newsday, Joan Reminick rediscovers Marias Mexican & Latin Cuisine in Nesconset which, after 10 years, has reasserted itself with creative, vibrant food. The menu draws from Mexican, Cuban, Central and South American influences and, says co-owner Maria Mones, were always looking for new recipes.

Peter Gianotti visits two wine bars. Bin 56, under new management in Huntington, offers a downtown vibe, a communal table and a respectable menu. Highlights include grilled endive, spicy-sweet chicken wings; fish tacos; spring rolls; fig-Brie-prosciutto crostini and cevapi, or Croatian-style grilled ground meat. If youre looking to try excellent Croatian wines, Bin 56 is your destination.

Molto Vino, recently uncorked in Babylon is a stylish and tight storefront, situated next to Solo Vino, its wine-shop parent. Chiantis are among the versatile selections, which tend toward Italian and American bottles. To go with your red or white: a modest selection of panini and salads, cured meats and cheeses.
