The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

A recent breakfast at Thomas’s Ham ‘N’ Eggery in Carle Place was highlighted by something a little different: egg sliders.

The little hand-held sandwiches come two to an order. Owner Tom Koukoulas starts with small dinner/slider rolls, which he grills in a little butter, to lightly crisp effect. Tucked inside each: A fried egg, Canadian bacon and American cheese. Meltingly good. Onion-y home fries accompany.

Thomas’s Ham ‘N’ Eggery is at 325 Old Country Rd, Carle Place, 516-333-3060.
