Whether it’s blintzes, fried clams or a Reuben you’re craving, you can get them during new dinner hours at Tim’s Shipwreck Diner in Northport, now open until 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday. It’s open until 3 p.m. the rest of the week.

The Northport go-to that earned a surprise makeover in 2014 from Food Network’s “American Diner Revival,” Tim’s Shipwreck Diner continues to upgrade from a neighborhood favorite to a more modern eatery that feeds a range of appetites, day or night.

You can’t dismiss the history of a place that was towed from Worcester, Massachucetts, to Northport in 1924. Since then it has undergone a few name changes, from Northport Diner in the early days, to Otto’s Shipwreck Diner during the early ’70s. When former owner Otto Hess retired, he turned the place over to his son, Tim.

The brightened diner pays homage to its past. But updates since the makeover include adding a pavilion over the patio last year. Despite the chill, the patio will be open for dinner, assisted by heat lamps.

Tim’s Shipwreck Diner is located at 46 Main St., Northport; 631-754-1797, shipwreckdiner.com
