The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
All too often, a sign posted on a restaurant reading “closed for renovations” turns out to mean “outta here.” Many will be relieved to learn that this was not the case for Tim’s Shipwreck Diner in Northport, which posted such a notice last week. Now, the eatery is up and running after having made some structural changes to its kitchen.
The iconic rail car diner originally landed in Northport back in 1924 and was used as a backdrop for a pivotal scene in the 1997 film “In and Out.“ It remains a popular local spot for breakfast and lunch.
Tim's Shipwreck Diner is located at 46 Main St., Northport, 631-754-1797.
