The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
For now, it may be hard to get your hands on a slice of pizza at Tanger Outlets at the Arches in Deer Park — this following the closing of UNO Fresco. The casual offshoot of the Chicago-based UNO chain lasted less than six months. It succeeded Fratelli Trattoria, which had a four-year life span.
But you will be able to find some pizza nearby — at the site that formerly hosted Bellissimo Ristorante. That dining spot, which was known for the homestyle cooking of chef-grandma Josephine Foresto, has closed. Replacing it is Juventus Pizza Ristorante, named for the Italian soccer team.
Here, you can order at the counter or sit down and be served. You’ll find a variety of pizzas — by the pie or the slice. Every week, a different specialty slice is featured; currently, the spotlight is on potato, bacon and cheddar pie. Also on the menu, in addition to calzones and heroes, are such dishes as chicken Marsala ($15.95), shrimp marinara ($15.95), rigatoni al pesto ($11.95) and eggplant Parmigiana ($14.50).
Juventus Pizza Ristorante is at 786 Grand Blvd., Deer Park, 631-274-3378.
