The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

The subject of the latest email blast from West East All Natural Bar & Bistro is emphatically in caps: NO MORE SODA. This from executive chef Jay Jadeja, who calls soda “a predominant contributor to the obesity and health crisis in our country.”

Jadeja, who was profiled in Newsday's All-Star Chefs series, adds that he and his wife, Raquel, haven’t had soda in over a decade, and their children don’t even know what soda is. In lieu of carbonated beverages, Jadeja offers wine, flavored iced teas, bottled sparkling water and freshly squeezed organic juices. Among juice bar items:  “Mr. Met’s simply apple” made with apples and skin-on lemon ($7) and “Jay’s Mean Green,” containing kale leaves, spinach, Asian pears and banana ($10).
