Great $10 meals are not easy to come by, but that is what’s on the menu Thursday nights at One Block East in Wantagh. On Burger Night, the house burger — regularly $12.95 — sells for $7, and beers are half price.

What seals the deal is that both the burgers and the beers are top notch. The eight-ounce patty is made with house-ground, 100-percent brisket. Topped with American cheese, sauteed onions and chipotle sauce, it sits on a well-proportioned bun alongside a crisp section of romaine and a shockingly red-ripe tomato. Hand-cut fries, good and salty, are included.

On the beer front, One Block East has a rotating selection of about two dozen on tap, in bottles and cans.

I had a burger-friendly Bronx Banner ale, regularly $6. Other current highlights Gangster Duck red ale from NYC’s Radiant Pig Craft Beers ($9) Son of the Beast IPA from Farmingdale’s Barrage Brewing Company ($8)

If you like bargains but not burgers, know that on Tuesdays, it’s $3 tacos (chicken, pork or brisket) and $7 margaritas and, starting at 7 p.m., Karaoke. Every Wednesday is Mardi Gras, with Cajun specialties, half-price wine and live music.
