The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.
Torn between an after-dinner drink and dessert? Frosae Wine Sorbae is the answer. Its a smooth, refreshing sorbet thats made from wine (and contains about 5 percent alcohol). Frosae started out as a food-service product aimed at restaurants, but now the producers have introduced quart containers in selected King Kullen supermarkets.
Frosae comes in three varieties. Royal Red is made with Peconic Bay 2008 Merlot, Elegant White is made with Peconic Bay 2011 Sauvignon Blanc, Chocolate-Merlot is made with an imported red and Belgian chocolate. All are $14.99/quart.
This weekend, Frosae representatives will be offering free samples of the sorbet at the following King Kullens, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You can also pick up a 4-ounce cup of Frosae at the factory outlet at Ice Cream Cottage (1590 Montauk Hwy., Mastic, 631-395-3580).
