Regina Gil, who founded the Arts Center and is serving as the festival's executive director, has named two programmers: Lana Wilson, who curates the Furman series, and Sean McPhillips, a former vice president of acquisitions at Miramax. Matthew Hiltzik, head of the communications firm Hiltzik Strategies and also a documentary film producer ("Holy Land Hardball"), is handling publicity.

The Gold Coast International Film Festival is planned for next June. Jon Kaiman, supervisor for the town of North Hempstead, says the town's tourism development corporation has given the festival $100,000 in start-up money, with another $150,000 authorized for next year.
