From legendary musician Willie Nelson’s free show at Surf Lodge (at which fellow icon Jimmy Buffet unexpectedly arrived and played) to the Beastie Boys’ Mike D taking the plunge in a dunk tank for charity at a mostly unannounced fundraiser at Ruschmeyer’s hotel, Montauk was able to boast a 2013 summer whose social scene was full of hip happenings, celebrities and concerts – with much of it open to the general public for no or little charge.

It was a year of recovery for several Nassau and Suffolk bars, clubs, lounges and other hangouts following Sandy, but by the arrival of winter much was back to normal. The world of LI nightlife quickly returned to staying busy embracing trends and entertaining those looking for a good time - just like it always has.
