Spend a day at the beach — indoors — in Stony Brook.

Seniors will be admitted free to tour the Long Island Museum's "Coney Island and Jones Beach: Empires by the Sea" exhibition 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday.

The exhibition features historic photographs, amusement park objects, paintings and archival film clips of Long Islanders and Brooklynites having fun in the sun.

And remember that stylish swimsuit your grandmother wore back in the 1940s? It's now called an "artifact," and many will be on display.

The event is part of the museum's monthly Senior Tuesday promotion. Only adults 62 and older are allowed in, when the museum is otherwise closed. For more information, call 631-751-0066 or visit longislandmuseum.org.
