Drinking and driving is a no-no. But certain combinations of prescription and over-the-counter drugs can be just as dangerous and severely affect your ability behind the wheel.

There's a new AAA online tool to help educate you on the potential dangers of combining certain drugs that can help to avert an accident. Click the box that says Launch Roadwise Rx at aaa.com/roadwiserx, type in the prescription and over-the-counter drugs you are taking. You can also enter many herbal supplements.

The tool gives you results in four categories: Medical Interactions, Food Interactions, Driver Warnings and Learn More About Your Medication.

The information is useful even if you are just temporarily using an over-the-counter drug. For example, entering in the heartburn medication Prilosec OTC returns several driver warnings, including "challenges staying within the lane markings" and "delayed reactions to on- and off-road events."
