Advice is free for Medicare Part D

The Long Island Senior Education Council and East Islip Dowling Partnership are teaming to present two free workshops where seniors can get advice and hands-on computer guidance in choosing a Medicare Part D plan for 2013.

All participants at the seminar will have access to a computer to navigate to the medicare.gov website. LISEC experts will handle the Medicare advice and students from East Islip High School will offer tips for those new to using a computer.

The seminars are Nov. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at East Islip High School. Reservations are required. Call 631-665-7057.

Medicare has extended the Dec. 7 open-enrollment deadline for beneficiaries affected by superstorm Sandy. If you are not able to pick a plan by Dec. 7, call Medicare at 800-633-4227.
