If you're nearing retirement, a new online tool can give you some clues about how successful you will be financially and what you need to do to reach your goals.
The retirement calculator from financial website SmartAsset (smartasset.com) asks you a few questions, including your current income, monthly savings, investments, retirement accounts and amount of annual revenue you think you'll need in retirement. The results are also dependent on what age you expect to begin collecting Social Security benefits. In all, the calculator uses about 80 variables to crunch your numbers, including where you expect to retire, whether it's on Long Island or elsewhere.
