When scam artists and unscrupulous telemarketers make phone calls looking for a victim, they hope the person on the other end of the line is a senior. And the friendlier the senior, the better the chances their pitch will be successful.

A survey from debit-card issuer True Link Financial found that an older adult, described as "extremely friendly," was four times more likely to become a victim of fraud or financial exploitation.

The main reason: They are too polite to hang up on a caller.
